바기오 어학 연수생의 IELTS 라이팅 에세이

안녕하세요~ 바기오 어학원에서 어학연수를 하며 날로 발전하고 있는 John입니다. 이번에는 제가 최근 작성한 IELTS 영어 에세이를 공유하고자 합니다. 점수는 6.0 정도라고 보시면 됩니다. 아직 많이 부족하지만, 처음에 비해 훨씬 향상된 실력에 매우 뿌듯합니다. 선생님들도 많은 칭찬을 해주셔서 학업적 성과를 직접 느낄 수 있다는 것은 학습에 있어 매우 큰 동기부여가 되는 것 같아요. ^^ 그럼 제가 열심히 작성한 에세이를 읽어주세요.

 

Topic: More developing countries are given aid from international organizations to help them in their development plans. Some people argue that financial aid is important, but others suggest that practical advice is more important.

Discuss both views and give your opinion.

In the past, economic support for poor countries has been provided by wealthy nations. Many people strongly believe that financial aid is crucial for promoting the development of poor nations. However, some argue that this type of support creates dependency on other countries. They believe that giving appropriate advice tailored to the circumstances of these nations is more necessary. Despite this, I contend that financial aid is the most practical form of assistance because fundamental financial power is essential for development.

It is often said that helping developing countries achieve economic and political independence through advising is significantly needed. This independence is the first step for underdeveloped nations to advance toward better national conditions. Some of today's emerging nations have heavily depended on the help of developed countries, which sometimes leads to poor nations being unable to stand on their own. For instance, the governments of developing countries may neglect the quality of life of their citizens and national development. This suggests that providing advice on self-sufficiency is better than economic aid for underdeveloped countries in the long term.

Nevertheless, a minimum level of financial power is a precondition for development. Every national industry aimed at development, which is managed by the government, requires a substantial amount of national funds. Without the ability to support these industries nationally, governments are powerless. This is the main reason why some poor countries seem hopeless and inactive. Therefore, rich countries should help them financially so that these nations can at least attempt to pursue their national businesses.

In conclusion, while practical advice is undoubtedly beneficial for poor countries, addressing the issue of insufficient national funds is the first step in the development process. Thus, I also agree that economic support is crucial.

 

작문에서는 특정 언어의 실력보다 글을 이해하는 능력이 매우 중요합니다. 단순히 영어를 잘한다고 해서 라이팅에서 높은 점수를 받을 수 있는 것은 아닙니다. 글을 능숙하게 다룰 줄 아는 뛰어난 문장력, 주어진 토픽에 대한 풍부한 배경지식, 설득력 있는 의견을 제시할 수 있는 강한 논리력 등이 갖춰져야 라이팅에서 성공적인 학업적 성취를 이룰 수 있다고 생각합니다. 그래서 라이팅 실력 향상에 관심 있는 분들께는 영어 공부뿐만 아니라 글 자체에 대한 이해도를 높이기 위해 언어와 관계없이 글을 많이 읽어보라고 말씀드리고 싶습니다. 한국어로 글을 잘 쓰는 사람이 영어로도 글을 잘 씁니다. 본인이 평소에 쓰던 내용을 영어로 옮기기만 하면 되기 때문이죠. 말이 길었네요. 아무튼 이렇게 가끔 올리는 저의 영어 에세이가 조금이나마 도움이 되었으면 합니다.
